Keep your GuideBeam profile up to date to get the best personalized experience. Here's how to manage your account settings.
Accessing Profile Settings
- Click your profile icon in the top right
- Select Account Settings or Profile
Display Name
Your display name appears:
- In your profile
- In practitioner session bookings
- In any collaborative features
To update:
- Go to Profile Settings
- Edit the Display Name field
- Click Save
Profile Picture
Add a photo to personalize your account:
- Click the current avatar
- Upload a new image
- Crop and position as needed
- Save changes
Supported formats: JPG, PNG (max 5MB)
Email Address
Your email is used for:
- Account login
- Notifications
- Password recovery
To change your email:
- Go to Account Settings > Email
- Enter your new email
- Verify via confirmation link
- Previous email receives notification
Notification Preferences
Control what emails you receive:
Available Notifications
- Assessment reminders: Prompts to complete or retake assessments
- Career insights: New matches or updated information
- Session reminders: Upcoming practitioner appointments
- Product updates: New features and improvements
- Marketing: Special offers and news (optional)
Managing Notifications
- Go to Account Settings > Notifications
- Toggle each notification type on/off
- Save preferences
Privacy Settings
Profile Visibility
Control who can see your information:
- Private: Only you can see your full profile
- Limited: Practitioners can see relevant career info
- Public: (If applicable) Visible to other users
Data Sharing
Manage how your data is used:
- Assessment data for career matching
- Anonymized data for research
- Third-party integrations

Security Settings
Password
Change your password regularly:
- Go to Account Settings > Security
- Enter current password
- Enter and confirm new password
- Save changes
Strong password tips:
- At least 12 characters
- Mix of letters, numbers, symbols
- Avoid common words or patterns
Connected Accounts
If you signed up via social login (Google, GitHub):
- View connected accounts
- Add additional sign-in methods
- Remove connections (ensure alternative login exists)
Active Sessions
View and manage logged-in devices:
- See all active sessions
- Log out remotely from other devices
- Review login history
Deleting Your Account
If you need to delete your account:
- Go to Account Settings > Account
- Click Delete Account
- Confirm your decision
- Enter password to verify
Warning: Account deletion is permanent:
- All assessment data will be deleted
- Career matches will be removed
- Conversation history will be erased
- This cannot be undone
Consider exporting your data first if you want to keep records.
